A New Adventure A New Experiment

This weeks article will be fairly short because I'm getting ready to go on a new adventure!  Yep!  Off to Alaska I go!  I'm very excited.....you can probably tell by the exclamation points!

This brings on a new subject:  Traveling with a disability.  When I return, this will be a new series of articles that you may find helpful.  Personally, if I had all the money in the world, I'd travel as much as my disease would allow me!  As it is, I go on two week long trips a year and several shorter trips.  Because of a lot of physical therapy, I'm still able to make most of the trips on my bucket list........with some modifications of course.  Because of my heat sensitivity, I try to travel during cooler times.  I attempt to avoid places with very steep hills or tons of stairs (although that's not always possible).  I schedule in rest days, and I try to leave my schedule very open and fluid.  I don't push my body past endurance, no matter how much I want to visit one more museum or attraction.

This trip has been on my list for quite some time........an Alaskan cruise that includes Glacier Bay!  Because of the sailing time, my rest time will be pretty much built in I think.  I DO have a deep water phobia, so I've been putting off the whole cruise thing, but just like autoimmune diseases.....we must face it to overcome it!  I'm confident it will be worth it!

Be watching for the start of my new series, and feel free to leave comments about any questions you may have about traveling with a disability.  Talk at you in a couple of weeks!
